Fun!
I have an amazing year coming up! As usual, I am home on beautiful Vancouver Island for my Canadian summer. Then I head out on a number of great voyages. I am super excited that I will be spending so much time in my two favourite places (well, not including where I have chosen to live) – which are southern Patagonia, and the South Pacific (especially Polynesia).
In October 2026, I start in Tahiti on the on the Lindblad/National Geographic ship NG Resolution, sailing from Papeete to Rapa Nui/Easter Island, with planned stops in the Tuamotu Islands, Mangareva, and Pitcairn Islands.
The islands are small and far apart so there are a fair few sea days on this voyage – but it is one of my favourite routes, and just about the only way to get to some of these extremely remote Pacific islands.
I actually LOVE the sea days – incredible to spend days at a time with nothing but glistening ocean in every direction. It is also a bit more relaxing for all, and it gives us lots of time to provide all of the enrichment learning programs (like our science and anthropology lectures), which sometimes get put on the back burner (or maybe not happen) when we are doing two off-ship operations every single day.
Then I fly directly south from Rapa Nui to southernmost Chile, for two back-to-back voyages on on the Lindblad/National Geographic ship NG Endurance. The first is through the fiords and channels of southern Patagonia, departing from Puerto Natales, Chile.
The second is also an amazing route – going from Ushuaia (Argentina) to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island with all of its incredible wildlife, and Antarctica. Then – extremely uncharacteristically – I am home for over five weeks from mid-December to mid-January!
In January I return to the ships, this time on on the Lindblad/National Geographic ship NG Orion, for four shorter voyages to Antarctica, then returning to Ushuaia and then Puerto Natales on two more voyages through southern Patagonia.
And finally, another big stint through Polynesia!
I return to NG Resolution to embark in Rapa Nui/Easter Island, taking her back to Tahiti, the staying on for two further epic Polynesian itineraries: one circling up through other islands of the Society Island chain and up to the remote Tuamotus and back to Papeete, then a final big crossing with stops at several of the Cook Islands as well as the countries of Niue and Tonga, to end in Fiji (so five countries on this cruise!)
